Forklift License Course Requirements:

Before starting your training course, ensure you meet these prerequisites:

  • 100 points of identification.

  • A valid USI (Unique Student Identifier) number.

  • Be over 18 years of age.

  • Reside in New South Wales.

  • Language literacy, i.e. the ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English.

  • Completion of pre-course training materials.

After completing the course and assessment, you must visit an Australia Post outlet within 60 days to lodge your application for a High-Risk Work Licence. 

 

Please note that an additional fee of $90.00 is payable to SafeWork NSW at this stage.

What happens during the practical assessment? 

During the practical assessment, you’ll demonstrate your ability to safely operate a forklift, including lifting, moving, and placing loads, navigating obstacles, and performing shutdown procedures. A SafeWork NSW accredited assessor will be on-site to sign off on your competency. 

 

Is the fee included in the SafeWork NSW application charge?

No, the $90.00 fee for the High-Risk Work Licence application is payable separately at an Australia Post outlet.

 

What kind of forklifts will I train on? 

You will train on powered industrial forklifts equipped with lifting masts and fork arms commonly used in warehouses and industrial settings.

 

What happens if I don’t pass the assessment on my first attempt?

If you don't pass the HRW licence assessment, you are required to reschedule in another evaluation at a later date. This must be done no less than 48 hours from completion of the first assessment and no more than 90 days. Contact our team to discuss rescheduling and preparation options.

 

Do I need to bring anything on the day? 

Bring 100 points of identification, your USI number, and any completed pre-course study material. Wear comfortable, closed-toe shoes suitable for practical training.

 

How long is the forklift licence valid? 

Once you successfully complete our course, the High-Risk Work Licence is valid for five years. You must renew it before it expires to continue operating a forklift.
